Week 8: Ads

This week I learned in more detail, what it takes to create great text ads in GoogleAds. I thought it would be simple, but there is definitely an art to it. I'm trying to learn that skill. I've learned that one of the most important things is to think like your prospective client. Who do I want to visit my site? What kinds of question would that person ask google to reach my site? I also learned that when creating a GoogleAd, I should make sure to tell them concisely what I offer and what kind of benefit they will get from me. Simplicity is important, but keeping things too simple doesn't give enough information. Another part of a highly effective GoogleAd is to give your client an emotional payoff of some kind. How am I going to help them and why? Really taking some time to get in your prospective clients head is important.

Something else new to me this week is how to create split ads. Split ads means creating two different, but similar ads, for the purpose of finding out which one gets the best response. Google will actually choose which one is most effective for your and automatically put it first.

The last thing I will mention from this week is that a smart way to name your website can be to actually use keywords in your domain name. The example that was given was www.howtostophairloss.com. It has great keywords right in the website name. Smart thinking!
